Dear Customer,

Apple announced that starting September 1, 2020, its Safari browser will no longer trust newly registered SSL certificates with a validity period of two years.

Two-year certificates registered until 31 August 2020, will be trusted, but registered certificates will not exist or after 1 September 2020. Why was the validity period reduced?

Longer validity periods will require longer time for updates or changes to generally roll out. This increases security by reducing the window of exposure if a certificate is compromised, and ensures that certificate holders regularly update their information.

Also, when the key is updated more frequently there is less chance of it being breached by a third party.
